The accessories in the rooms are well thought out and intricately placed. I got absorbed in the presidential suite. The accessories here are those that reflect power and conquests. The bronze sculptures are reminiscent of Epic movies, some have commanders on horse backs! For the love of action movies, I felt like I was in another world!

(Posted 05th February 2014)

IRT, in full Ile de la Reunion Tourism, on Monday held a workshop session at their offices with Prof. Dr. Arlt, Founder and Director of the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute, to gain insight into the do’s and don’ts when marketing the island to the Chinese market.

High on the agenda were issues surrounding the branding and setting Reunion apart in the eye of the Chinese traveler from other islands, not too difficult a proposition as Reunion after all is so very different from most of the other Vanilla Islands also vying from the same market.

Air connections were named as a challenge, when coming from China and increased cruise ship connections with neighbouring islands was put forward too to enhance the product range for visitors. Getting to know the habits of Chinese travelers and having guides, staff in resorts as…

Zanzibar Island

Zanzibar, the majestic spice island of the Indian Ocean is composed of two main islands of Unguja and Pemba. Over the centuries different cultures such as the Sumerians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Phonecians, Indians, Chinese, Persians, Portuguse, Omani Arabs, Dutch and British have settled here at one time or another and influenced the local culture into the present fusion.

Today the romance, the splendor and legends of the past are still vibrantly alive; traditional sailing dhows, carved wooden doors, chests, the scent of the clove and the smile of the hospitable people welcomes you to Zanzibar.

Tourist attractions and Activities

There are many pure white beaches, warm waters and lovely villages around Zanzibar perfect for those wanting to get away from the busy town life. Some exciting activities at the beach would include: diving, snorkeling, dhow trips and water sports.

Away from the beaches, a trip to Zanzibar would be incomplete without visiting its other attractions such as the Palace Museum which was the residence of the Al Busid dynasty, Spice markets, The Anglican Cathedral and former Slave Market.

Although the magnificent blues of the sea surrounding Zanzibar’s islands will keep you busy, the land is also exciting and interesting. You can stroll through the paved streets of Stone Town, discover the spice plantations in the countryside or sip a cocktail in the shade while watching the sea.

Palace Museum
Revealing the lifestyle of the Sultan legacy in Zanzibar, the Palace Museum, (originally called the Sultan’s Palace), became the official residence of the Al Busid dynasty in 1911.

Anglican Cathedral and Slave Market
The colossal Anglican Cathedral in Stone Town is positioned on the grounds of the islands largest slave market, which closed down in 1873.

Accommodations in Zanzibar

There are a variety of accommodation to be found in Tarangire, some of our favorites include; Mtoni Marine,  Breezes, Anna of Zanzibar, Baraza, Matemwe Retreat, Mnemba Island, Pongwe, Eco Beach, Matemwe Lodge, Palms, Ocean Paradise, Sultan Sands, Blue Bay Zanzibar, Kilindi Zanzibar

Best Itinerary Featuring Zanzibar

Being one of the Classical parks in Northern Tanzania, we have chosen a 12 day safari, with 5 days in Zanzibar, that we call the SKY Safari and beach. The SKY Safari is short enough for any Family safari, honeymooner safari, couple getaway or any single wanting to discover Africa in style, but long enough to explore the classic Northern parks to leave with you with incomparable memories.

With the Beach extension, there is no better way to complete the holiday-of-a-lifetime than to take one final voyage by air to Kilindi Zanzibar, ready to provide the ultimate final chapter for your SkySafari holiday. Apart from the Zanzibar, you would visit Tanzania’s classic Northern Parks, i.e Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the world famous Serengeti National park, well known for the wildebeest Migration.

The Beauty of this Itinerary is that;

  • You get to stay in some of the smallest boutique lodges in Northern Tanzanian Parks, dare I say, award winning lodges and camps.
  • In Zanzibar In particular, you would stay at Kilindi Zanzibar; With each Pavilion set in its own private tropical gardens and served by a dedicated Butler, the design is that of Scandinavian minimalism mixed with the dramatic architectural overtones so evident in Middle Eastern heritage. The Pavilions have their very own private plunge pool!
  • The service you will experience at each of the accommodations, is world class service with the best African hospitality.
  • You get to travel in comfort in a private executive-class aircraft, therefore save the long drives on the roads and get right to the parks.

This holiday come experience the African bush and African beach, in our SKY Safari with Beach.

Looking forward to welcoming you to Africa!

Lake Elmenteita

Lake Elementaita

This is yet another Flamingo haven much like it’s not so distant cousin the famous Lake Nakuru.  It is relatively untouched as it has only recently featured on the tourist circuit. It is smaller in size about 18 sq km and though located on private land, it is open for exploration. This is a picturesque bird paradise with a bird count of over 350 species including Flamingoes, Great Crested Grebe, Great White Pelicans and so many more. Its shores and environs are also teaming with wildlife including many herbivores such as buffalo, eland, waterbuck, warthog, gazelle, zebra, and carnivores such as jackal, lion and cheetah.

Soysambu Wildlife Sanctuary gives an opportunity for visitors to spend time on the shores watching the incredible variety of bird species, and animals. Today’s Soysambu is a 48,000 acre Wildlife Conservancy, also a RAMSAR site – a wetland of international importance.  The alkaline lake’s rocky islands are the only East African nesting site for great white pelicans, while its algae and plankton provides food for vast flocks of flamingos and a multitude of other waterfowl, many of them rare.

Tourist Activities will include:

  • horse riding
  • bird watching
  • dipping into the natural warm spa that flows into the lake
  • Hot Air balloon ride
  • Nature walks

Best Itinerary Featuring Lake Elmenteita

we have selected a 9 day safari, ‘Ballon safari with Champagne bush breakfast’. In this safari you will get to end your safari by Lake Elmenteita. A serene, quiet and tranquil haven ……a beautiful way to end a great African expedition. Your stay at Lake Elmenteita will be at Sunbird Lodge or at Lake Elmenteita Serena camp if you chose the ‘Luxury safari with Champagne Breakfast’.

Apart from Lake Elmenteita, you would also visit: Lake Nakuru, well known for catching the BIG 5 and seeing thousands of flamingos on the lake.

Being the season for the wildebeest Migration, you will also get to visit Maasai mara, not only will you get to see the wildebeest but also catch the whole migration atop a balloon safari, and get a bird’s eye perspective. The Balloon ride also sets you above the clouds in the early morning and you catch the first glipse of sun’s rays over the Savanna……… truly a magical and memorable encounter you cannot afford to miss!

Africa beckons and we look forward welcoming you to our land!

Mbweha Camp

Kenya-lakeNakuru-MbwehaCamp5

Tucked away in the spectacular vastness of The Great Rift Valley on a private 6400acres Congreve Conservancy, Mbweha Camp is nestled up against the southern border of Lake Nakuru National Park with beautiful views of the Eburru and Mau Ranges. The camp consists of 10 cottages built of lava stone and the thatched makuti roof adds glamour and style to its contemporary African ambience. Every cottage is surrounded by Candelabra Euphorbia, yellow barked Acacia and other indigenous trees that provide a relaxed atmosphere as you listen to the African night sounds of a lion roar.

Bush walks, night game drives, sundowners or bush breakfasts and hot air ballooning over the spectacular Great Rift Valley and the lakes below are additional activities that you can enjoy and enhance your stay in truly remarkable and authentic African setting.
